Voices Forward was formed in 2006 by like-minded colleagues including respected film programmer Stacey Donen and Israeli doc producer Amit Breuer, recently moved to Toronto. They realized that there was a hunger for information, discussion and art from the region not readily available to Canadians and believed Toronto's relative openness provided a unique place to foster a festival dedicated to building bridges between the Israeli and Palestinian communities.

Our hope is to transmit the realities in these artistic works, focusing on individuals from both sides with the courage to showcase human stories.  We believe that these voices should be heard in North America: nothing can communicate humanity and the human experience better than art.

In addition to presenting screenings and events throughout the year, the Voices Forward Third Annual Festival will present a complex and varied arrays of films, photography, theatre, music and dialogue discussions with visiting Palestinian and Israeli artists and filmmakers between November 12 - 16, 2008
